The Valdosta High School project is much more than a new school facility, it is also master planned as an athletic complex for the school. This project site is 184 acres and includes 508,599 square feet of educational and administrative space, track and field facilities, two practice football fields, and a soccer field. This site was also master planned, including infrastructure design and construction, for an additional soccer field, a football stadium, two baseball fields and two softball fields.
P.C. Simonton & Associates, Inc. played an integral role in master planning infrastructure for the site. This included a phased approach of constructing the educational facilities and some athletic facilities first, while being prepared for the addition of a football stadium and other athletic facilities. Planning and design services for the project included stormwater conveyance and detention, gravity sewer main extensions, sewer pump station design, potable water extensions, roadway design, GDOT encroachment permitting for widening and median crossover, and school zone signage plan. Construction assistance for this project included review of shop drawings, periodic site observations for compliance with construction documents and coordination with regulatory agency approvals required such as City of Valdosta, Georgia EPD, and Georgia Department of Transportation.
