As the engineer on this project, we assisted the client in locating a route, acquiring the necessary right-of-way, and designing the roadway to meet the Georgia Department of Transportation standards for a 55 mile per hour roadway. The project is split into two phases of 2.5 miles each. The first phase connects Highway 44 to Walker Church Road. The second phase continues from Walker Church Road to Veazy Road. Once complete, this roadway will provide much quicker access from the more populated areas of Greene County to some of the more rural areas.
P.C. Simonton & Associates prepared bid packages along with a detailed cost estimate for the client. We also assisted the client with the public bidding of the project and the selection of a contractor based on the bids received. Once construction started, we assisted the client with inspection, and construction and contract administration.
